Barcelo Fuerteventura Royal Level – Adults Only

An oasis of calm, relaxing and charming. The chalets are very spacious, very clean and the bed was comfy. Two large screen TVs in the lounge and bedroom, and a spacious sun terrace with rails to dry clothes after a swim. Around the complex the plants are well maintained and very pleasing, while the pool area is also very clean with a lifeguard available throughout the day. Sun loungers are plentiful although I noticed some guests rather selfishly 'reserved' them in the morning before returning only at lunchtime. The Terra Sana restaurant is again immaculately clean, the breakfast buffet features a good selection of pastries, breads, English style fried breakfasts, fruit, cereals, yogurts and smoothies to name but a few, plus an 'eggs your way' freshly cooked selection. We enjoyed eggs benedict daily for breakfast. And all rounded off with complementary rose or white cava for an indulgent, luxurious touch. Breakfast really is first class here. For dinner, the same restaurant has a rotating mix of foods themed around world cuisines, so we enjoyed Spanish, Italian and Canarian buffets. Again a vast selection. I found the meats tended to be slightly overcooked for my preference typically, but certainly not inedible. Freshly cooked chicken, fish or steak was regularly available and the evening of seeing an expert ham cutter theatrically slicing fine jamon was great fun. In the spacious poolside bar, there's evening live music and a good selection of spirits, wine and beer. A special word about the staff, who are without exception very attentive, friendly and helpful. From check in, cleaning staff, bar and restaurant, we found them always warm and welcoming. They clearly work very hard, but do so with great enthusiasm and energy. Overall, having stayed in Interconnected Barceloar previously, I would definitely say it's worth the extra to stay in Royal Level at Barcelo Mar. I'm generally not one for revisiting places, but this is going to be an exception and we hope to visit again for some winter sun soon!

Really good. Please read if you are thinking of booking and I am happy to answer any question! We are here now, mid December. The resort is quiet but getting busier ahead of Xmas rush. We have stayed in the Mar twice and it was very good. This time we booked Royal Level and ....well, we can never go back! Here's why.... The room in the Royal Level Family area is large, modern and has its own bedroom. The sofabed is SO comfy (I had a bad throat so was snoring and slept here!) You get a choice of 2 exclusive restaurants. The meal in La Perlita last night (Sun 15th) was an absolute joy with lovely attentive staff and incredible food. One of the best nights in ages. The Brazilian buffet is great fun. Probably only for a one off but definitely a cool experience. The breakfasts are so good. Fresh coffee on demand (Lavazza!) There was a power cut today so we could not get the full one, but not their fault and my waistline was grateful. There is a nice touch in the reception with free drinks and free Pringles (heaven!) This trip was not without problems. It has been a difficult year and we wanted everything to go smoothly. There were some teething problems (with sink, safe, fridge) but I have to say Valentin on behalf of the hotel handled it very well. This is a true test or a hotel - taking an issue, resolving it and making you feel happy. Nice work Valentin! The only slightly annoying thing is that you cannot book the room for 3 adults, even though the sofabed is huge. We would have been happy with one room for 3 in February when we come back (and in October /December) but this is not an option. Therefore you have to get 2 rooms (£££) or a 2 bed apartment (more expensive than two apartments!) Overall, though, this is a massive thumbs up from me as a wonderful experience, lovely food and great staff. They do some great welcome gifts, too. We found the Royal Family rooms to be nicer than Adults Only (also v nice) and the Royal Level Family has some AMAZING looking rooms with Hot tubs and garden area which looks out on to the sea.....

It was a decent stay overall. The food was alright, especially steaks available every day, wasn’t a match for other Barcelos but definitely not terrible. Didn’t really have issues getting the sunbeds any time of the day, 50-60% were taken pretty early but you can always find something. Maybe because it was pretty chilly outside most of the week. Service is a hit or miss, many servers don’t speak English. Some literally don’t speak a word. Other Pros - the overall area, you can go to each of other Barcelos with a royal level card, cheap-ish drinks but high quality, animation was ok, especially a trio of girls one night singing Whitney Houston, we were wondering what the heck are they doing here. Cons - Spa SUUUUCKS, like actually terrible. Sauna needs urgent modernization, I got one massage - awful experience. Housekeeping sometimes didn’t do sh** but make up the bed and we had to call in. Other restaurants meh, don’t bother and stay with adults only. Probably won’t be back but don’t regret the choice.
