The Banyan Tree is a beautiful five-star hotel in the Riviera Maya area of Mexico. The attention to detail and the care taken throughout the property is evident from the moment you arrive into a cocoon of luxury. An Asian inspired hideaway, the interior design combines dark woods, cream accents and lanterns to create a peaceful and relaxing vibe. Your experience here will be unlike any other place you’ve stayed. Before you arrive, you are sent a Silhouette Form so they can really get to know you and cater for your preferences from your favourite aromatherapy scent right down to your favourite type of pillow, ensuring you enjoy a personal and exclusive experience.

Banyan Tree is situated on the Mayakoba complex where there are three other hotels. Guests of the Banyan Tree are welcome to enjoy the spa and dining options at the other hotels meaning you have access to over 30 restaurants, giving plenty of choice even for the fussiest of eaters! The dining scene is incredible with flavours from all around the world.

Rooms are beautifully decorated, and each room has its own private pool, perfect for some well-deserved relaxation. Rooms are spacious and light, and each comes with 2 bicycles for a sustainable way to get around the complex. Some rooms are set amidst lush verdant mangroves, the area has been a success for flora and fauna with over 4,000 species of birds and wildlife protected here. If you prefer to be closer to the beach – there are also rooms on the “beachside” which have gorgeous sea views.

About the location

The Banyan Tree is located in the Mayakoba resort near to Playa del Carmen in Mexico. The hotel is right on the beachfront and is around 20 minutes from the 5th avenue in the centre of Playa del Carmen, a long pedestrianised walkway with lots of bars, restaurants and shops. The hotel is surrounded by lush tropical mangroves and is just 40 minutes from Cancun Airport.
