Sardinia is a beautiful island full of stunning beaches, fascinating architecture and plenty of seaside activities perfect for families. One of the most family friendly holiday spots on the island, Forte Village is home to white sandy beaches, the Chelsea Football Academy and restaurants offering a wide range of options; perfect for fussy eaters.

The Hotel Bouganville is a great choice for a family holiday in Italy. You'll find a selection of four restaurants, including the Children's Restaurant. There are waterslides and swimming pools dotted throughout the luscious gardens of the resort to keep children active during the day, as well as a babysitting service in the evenings.

Pineta is also located in Forte Village and provides the perfect setting for your family holiday. Children can enjoy the Kids' Restaurant and kids' clubs during the day, as well as a huge range of activities throughout the resort. There's tennis, football, cycling, basketball and water sports, as well as a beautiful sandy beach with shallow waters ideal for those who like to paddle.

The three big names are Lake Como, Lake Garda and Lake Maggiore. Lake Garda is the largest, offering up everything from spa towns to theme parks. Lake Como is a favourite with the A-list, and is edged with stylish towns like Bellagio and Como. Lake Maggiore's shores are dotted with elegant palazzos and extravagant palaces, but you'll also find plenty of traditional little fishing villages, too.

The Neapolitan Riviera is a stretch of coastline that runs south from Naples, including the seaside town of Sorrento and the Amalfi Coast. With dramatic cliffs running down towards the sea, this area offers plenty of hiking trails that zig-zag across the hills, including the famous Path of the Gods, which joins Positano with Agerola, a little hilltop town.
