With plenty to please families and couples alike, the Creta Palace, Grecotel Luxury Beach Resort is a versatile holiday choice. Set on a stretch of sand and pebble beach in the picturesque town of Missiria it’s also conveniently located for visiting the livelier Rethymnon, which is just 4km away.

When it comes to room choices there really is something for everyone, from single occupancy choices to large suites. Families will love the bungalow options which can accommodate up to three children and are decorated in a bright but stylish fashion. There’s also a special pool with waterslides, children’s cookery classes and an all-day free mini buffet to keep little ones entertained. For adults a visit to the Elixir spa will leave you feeling relaxed and revived, while everyone will enjoy the Blue Flag beach and array of varied dining options.

About the location

Creta Palace, Grecotel Luxury Beach Resort is on a long stretch of golden sands along Crete’s north coast. It’s close to the historic town of Rethymnon, in the tranquil village of Missiria. The village’s main attraction is its Blue Flag beach, which is lapped by crystal clear waters and is home to loungers, sun beds, and bars and restaurants. Spend the day immersing yourself in the serenity of the resort or trying watersports, before heading to one of the seaside tavernas for a delicious lunch.

For culture, restaurants and bars head into nearby Rethymnon. Here you’ll find Venetian architecture, street side cafés, a selection of bars, and a picturesque harbour. Plus, there are ancient mosques and churches in the old town, and a historic fortress.

Comfort ALL-IN Package

This upgraded dining option includes breakfast, lunch and dinner as well as selected drinks served with meals and snacks throughout the day.

Complimentary drinks are served during the day from 10:00 to 18:00 in the Beach Bar Caretta-Caretta and in the pool area. From 18:00 to 01:00 drinks are served in the Talos Lobby Bar and in the King Minos amphitheatre during the evening shows.

The guests with a total of 7 nights or more are offered one complimentary set menu dinner at one of the two a la carte restaurants (Barbarossa Fish Restaurant or Golden Dragon Sushi and Steak). Any additional meals at the a la carte restaurants will be chargeable, with a per person credit deducted from the bill.

Guests are recommended to make reservations at the a la carte restaurants 1-2 days in advance. Prior to arrival this can be requested with your Personal Travel Planner, and once in resort this can be arranged directly with the hotel.

We have just finished our 5 day stay at Grecotel Creta Palace. This is not our first stay in a Grecotel or our first 5* Hotel Stay. We’ve also not long come back from an Iberostar Selection...

We have just finished our 5 day stay at Grecotel Creta Palace. This is not our first stay in a Grecotel or our first 5* Hotel Stay. We’ve also not long come back from an Iberostar Selection. Therefore, I feel it’s only fair that I measure this hotel against similar. Firstly we booked everything via Love Holidays. I would strongly recommend that you do NOT book your transfer with them. TLT are a disgrace. Our transfer was as long as the flight after a long day. We missed our meals but luckily the hotel kept the restaurant open but with limited food. The entrance to the hotel is very attractive and you are greeted extremely well. The hotel is very well kept with lots of staff. We honestly didn’t meet a member of staff who couldn’t do enough or was rude. The main bar staff are fantastic as is Maria at pool side and all waiting staff. It appears to be something that Grecotel pride themselves on as are the staff at Kommeno Bay. There are however some down sides to Creta Palace both Kommeno & Iberostar Selection Fuerteventura have superior rooms. They are bigger and feel more 5*. We have our 15yr old son and the limited space meant it was difficult in mornings & evenings. I also feel the food at both other places was better. Self service for coffee would be much better as it can be a long wait. It was good but unfortunately we weren’t blown away. The pool unfortunately goes into the shade quite early in the afternoon as the sun goes behind the hotel. There was also a lot of children for a 5* and they were all at the main pool which I feel says something about the children’s. An adults only area would be nice. There is also no pool bar. It’s completely waited on service. You can’t go and sit down and relax and have a drink anywhere pool side like at Kommaneo Bay or Iberostar. All in all it was a pleasant stay and again the staff are fantastic but the hotel is lacking in some areas. Unless you stay 7 days you also don’t qualify for the themed restaurants and have to pay.
