Daios Cove is located in its own private cove, where guests can relax and take in the views of the glittering Aegean Sea. It’s home to a stunning infinity pool which overlooks the cove and offers sun loungers and a bar and restaurant. The beach itself has lounger service, as well as a range of water sports for more active guests.

Families are well catered for, with high chairs in all restaurants, a Kids’ Club, a babysitting service and much more. Couples can spend their days relaxing in the spa, enjoying a massage for two as they overlook the beautiful cove from floor length windows. When it comes to dining you’ll be spoilt for choice, with opportunities to learn to cook your own delicious traditional dishes as well.

About the location

Daios Cove can be found on Crete’s north east coastline, close to the town of Aghios Nikolaos. This bustling town is one of the most picturesque on the island, with colourful Venetian buildings surrounded by the sparkling sea and beautiful lagoon. Enjoy delicious cuisine as you overlook the lake, or pick up unique fashion, souvenirs and gifts in one of the town’s many boutiques.

There are plenty of golden sandy beaches dotted along this stretch of coastline, giving you opportunities to spend days soaking up the sun or try some of the water sports available. We absolutely loved our stay at Daios Cove, and cannot wait to return. My husband and I were staying for a week in a Deluxe Suite and enjoyed the Residents Club package. If you are considering booking this hotel and plan to eat at the hotel mostly, it's 100% worth going for the Residents Club (we estimate we probably would have spent about 4x the upgrade difference on meals and drinks etc had we not). The restaurant offerings are truly excellent. We were so pleasantly surprised at the quality of food in all restaurants, not to mention the extensive wine and cocktail lists. We are planning our holiday for next year and finding it hard to compete with Daios Cove. The main appeal, alongside the beautiful setting and view, is the way Daios Cove manages to offer such high quality food and drinks within an 'all inclusive' option. No restricted set menus or a '20 euro token towards dinner' - it felt like we were dining at high end restaurants for breakfast, lunch and dinner. Our favourite was Taverna for authentic Greek options, but the Beach Club was an expected winner too - not just your usual burgers and club sandwiches, we enjoyed a lot of high quality seafood dishes here too. We loved the effort the hotel has put into the cocktail menus with the partnership with The Clumsies - very elegant and high quality drinks. This hotel clearly takes its food and beverage very seriously and for us this was perhaps the biggest highlight, as it can be so hit and miss in big resorts - even things like drinks and snacks at the pool felt to a high standard every time. Champagne to start the evening, and by the pool most afternoons - such a luxurious holiday feel. The food menus also have a huge health focus (optional!) which was such a nice addition to balance out all the the more indulgent meals. The beach and pool area were great, the view from the infinity pool is just stunning. The hotel was very family friendly without being too overrun with children when we were there (however I can imagine visiting during peak kids holiday season it might feel a little crowded). There is an adults pool although we just loved the view from the main pool loungers. We really appreciated the adults only policy for breakfast at Taverna - breakfast and coffee every morning there was so incredibly peaceful and calm and was a perfect way to start the day overlooking the beautiful view - I'd be sad if they ever change this! It made for a perfect balance between family friendly but also giving adults some level of a more luxurious peaceful setting. Our room was lovely, although we'd be tempted to go for one of the Collection rooms next time as some appeared to face the sun. Staff were great, and the resort felt perfectly clean at all times. All in all - a beautiful five star resort that doesn't feel like a big European holiday resort, but manages to keep a very authentic, luxury hotel feel.

We have been to a lot of “family luxury” type resorts, and this has been one of the best - the rooms are beautiful, the staff and service are super professional and friendly; the food and drinks were uniformly very good - the a la carts restaurants are great (especially Taverna) and Pangea is one of the best buffets I have come across - not a massive menu and they didn’t bother with the usual “themed” nights, just varied and good quality Cretan and Greek (and some “international”) staples. Everything was fresh and tasty. The kids loved the kids club - the hotels’ own kids club (there is also a Scott Dunn one, I don’t know about that) was great and had some very well qualified staff who made the sessions fun and interactive for the kids. They were happy to go to kids club regularly. There were also daily evening activities for the kids. The beach is not enormous and you have to get down there reasonably early to get a spot which doesn’t lose the sun mid afternoon (in October) but if you book a room with a pool (which is a lot of them….) this is less of a must - we had the “basic” family room though with no pool and even that was very well appointed and felt very luxurious and spacious The “all inclusive” (Residents’ Club) is a definite for this resort I think - there is not much else around so you will be dining on-site and the regular prices for meals and drinks are steep. By contrast the Residents’ Club is excellent value and genuinely includes almost everything - minibar; three meals a day; all the a la carte restaurants with very few supplements and no limits on how many nights you can go there; champagne; room service (even a bottle of wine we ordered to room service after dinner one night was included) - it’s the most inclusive “all inclusive” I have ever come across - fantastic There is not a lot around the hotel - you’ll need a car to get anywhere else. But will you need to? I would say for a 5-7 night stay, probably not! The gym was a strong point here - lots of equipment and well maintained and kept clean. The view from the treadmills is amazing, over the cove! But disappointing there is only one tennis court (the other one has been turned into some sort of outdoor sports arena which didn’t look like it gets a lot of use) - we only managed to get one hour of court time in a week which was a bit annoying as we had brought out rackets out Overall an excellent stay and a strong contender for repeat visits!
