Holidays with Teenagers

Choosing a holiday or hotel that gets teen approval can be tricky - that's why we've highlighted a selection of hotels that really hit the mark when it comes to catering for them. Lots of our family-friendly hotels offer kids' clubs, but to make it into our teen-friendly selection, we're looking for things like separate lounges, games rooms and top-notch sports facilities.

The adult-free zones at these hotels might offer bars where teens can socialise over a few drinks (non-alcoholic, of course), flatscreens hooked up to the latest games consoles, or after-dark activities like bonfires and barbecues on the beach. Sports-wise, there's usually plenty to pick from. At Heritage Le Telfair in Mauritius, for example, teens can enjoy golf lessons, Porto Sani in Halkidiki offers canoe tours and night trekking, and at Sardinia's Hotel Bouganville teens can sign up for the Chelsea Football Academy.

Teen travel tips

Family-sized rooms

Having enough space for everyone is key when you’re holidaying with teens. Interconnecting rooms offer that extra bit of privacy, plus the bonus of having two bathrooms (ideal for avoiding shower queues in the morning or when you get back from the beach).

We can also recommend family suites, most of which have separate bedrooms and living areas, plus hotel villas where you could have a private pool, spacious lounge area and a kitchen facilities.
